Relaxing On The Bye Week

October 8, 2012

Grand View football stands 5-2 and 4-0 in MSFA Midwest Conference play after Saturday’s big 51-0 homecoming win over Waldorf.  The Vikings remain ranked #14 in the NAIA Coaches Top 25.  Grand View is off this Saturday before hosting Siena Heights on October 20th.

It’s been a good season so far.  The highlight is the 29-26 2 OT win at then #9 St Ambrose on September 29th.  Nothing like winning on a walk off field goal.  The meat of the schedule is coming up though.  Two of the final three games will be against ranked opponents on the road.  #20 St Francis (IL) on October 27th and #5 William Penn on November 10th.  The Vikings also play host to Iowa Wesleyan on November 3rd.  Looking forward to a strong finish to make a run at another conference title and birth in the playoffs.

I’ll be enjoying my off Saturday taking in #5 Kansas State at #25 Iowa State game in Ames.  Cyclone country is obviously all a buzz following their upset win at TCU.  Word is that this game could be the largest crowd ever at Jack Trice Stadium.  ISU is off to a great 4-1 start, while K-State (5-0) is again playing well under Bill Snyder.  I saw the Cyclones season opening win vs Tulsa and am looking forward to getting back to see my alma mater again.

I’d like to thank all of you who have reached out to me via twitter (@geoffconn) letting me know you’re listening.  I appreciate all the complimentary feedback and enjoy bringing the games to you.

Grand View’s student newspaper, The Grand Views did a feature article on me last week.  In case you missed it:

Looking forward to the rest of the football season and can’t wait to begin calling basketball games in November!  Go Vikings!
